"The Last Voyage, The Last Goodbyes"
re-enacts November 9, 1975 as the Edmund Fitzgerald departed Burlington Northern Dock #1 in Superior Wisconsin with 26,116 tons of taconite, downbound for Zug Island on the Detroit River. At 1:30pm, on an abnormally 72 warm afternoon for that time of the year, the "Big Fitz" entered the Superior Entry into Lake Superior for the last time; on deck is maintenance man Tom Borgeson of Duluth conversing with 3rd mate Michael Armagost of Iron River, Wis., in the bow is watchman Ray Cundy of Superior, Wis., and along the main deck railing are porters Noland Church of Silver Bay, Minn., and Fred Beetcher of Superior waving "...the Last Goodbye."

"Maiden Voyage, a Promising Future"
Deals with the other end of the Edmund Fitzgerald saga.  On September 23, 1958, the Fitz left Cleveland upbound to Taconite Harbor, Minn., on her maiden voyage.
Her downbound run, loaded with taconite, broke the record as the largest load carried through the Soo Locks. It was certainly, "a promising future," as the Fitz broke record after record: quickest trip across Lake Superior, fastest round trip, largest loads carried from numerous ports, the list goes on and on.
