"Maiden Voyage, a Promising Future"
Deals with the other end of the Edmund Fitzgerald saga.
On September 23, 1958, the Fitz left Cleveland upbound to Taconite Harbor,
Minn., on her maiden voyage.
Her downbound run, loaded with taconite, broke the record as the largest
load carried through the Soo Locks. It was certainly, "a promising
future," as the Fitz broke record after record: quickest trip across
Lake Superior, fastest round trip, largest loads carried from numerous
ports, the list goes on and on.
