Edmund Fitzgerald
The Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior on November
10, 1975 with all hands. The incident has given the public a focus on the
hardships of Great Lakes mariners, and reminds us that even today our men
and equipment are not immune to the elements of nature.

Paul Townsend

Cement (now Lafarge Shipping) gypsum freighters. This one built in 1945 is
diesel-powered, 447' long, and is "unloaded" heading north to
collect more concrete materials for its Detroit terminal.

Crispin Oglebay, wintering across from the City of
Toledo, Ohio. Repairs are completed by winter skeleton crews refitting for

Cleveland, Ohio.
